Titterzz quicky 28-04-2011: To be excluded based on your sexual orientation… not different from the Dutch experience of Senaida (28) and Alida (23) who were rejected for treatment in Holland (see: Awareness-NL – homorechten (lesbisch)).

Lesbian couple opens same-sex fertility clinic!

Titterzz quicky 24-03-2011: Taking matters in your own hands! Well, Natalie Drew and partner Ashling Phillips did, by opening up their own clinic: Gay Family Web Fertility Centre. It’s almost comical to watch the reaction of other parties (in this case the Christian faith groups), that suddenly claim to be left out! As if the mere existence of this clinic isn’t the reason for the fact that lesbian couples have often been excluded at general clinics in the past.

Titterzz quicky 26-1-2011: Results of this study show that (a.o.) daughters of lesbian moms try same-sex relations more often that daughters of heterosexual couples. Although I personally can’t believe the result that children of lesbian moms aren’t abused, this can be due to the relative small number of subjects. Still, a study with some nice results.

Titterzz quicky 30-12-2010: Debie Hackett, together with her former lover, raised their son. She battled in court to have parental rights. She lost – probably due to the fact that she wasn’t the biological mother??? – and killed herself. What’s wrong in this picture. Read on…

Titterzz quicky 21-12-2010: from 2007 – 2009 the number of lesbian couples that seeked IVF treatment doubled. Titterzz also had these court cases in mind, where the gay sperm-donors wanted joint custody of the child (and one donor got it!!!). IVF seems like a much smarter idea, suddenly…

Titterzz found a nice background article about 25 years of research about heterosexual and lesbian couples with children. We already knew they were performing better academically, have higher self-esteem and are less likely to have behavioural problems. Now, The Guardian interviews four couples. Read on, it’s nice… Source: The Guardian, 12th of December, by Shahesta[...]

Titterzz thinks there is a fine line between being a donor, having little involvement (as stated), having a lot of involvement, and wanting to be a father. This article underlines the absolute necessity of an agreement, which is unambiguous for, and complied with, both parties. Source: PinkNews, 2nd December, Jessica Green. A gay man has[...]

Longitudinal lesbian family study (US): psychological adjustment of 17-yr-old adolescents

Titterzz finds longitudinal studies as this one, very enlightening. It’s good to examine different life-styles and their – possible – effects. There seems to be some doubt if women can raise their offspring the same way a ‘traditional’ family can. Even if Titterzz doesn’t understand these underlying ideas, about needing female and male roles and so[...]
